Insanity? Nope, Just Genius!

Every summer I watch "So you think you can dance" and every summer I fall in love with a dance routine. However, there has been a few dance numbers that I really appreciated, but this one dance named 'Ramalama Bang Bang' will always be my favorite. It was choreographed by Wade Robson and it's theme was zombies gone wild. It was brilliant - best combo of insanity mixed genius. Wade Robson always has a vision and through his dance pieces, he able to show it to everyone.
I love watching "So you think you can dance." It has a great combo of brilliant choreographers and dancers. You can watch this show endlessly and never get tired of it.
What do you guys think? Do you like this dance?

Ridiculous? Nope!

I'm not sure if I have told you guys how much I love Britney Spears. She is probably my favorite artist ever. Britney has made numerous videos but her recent ones hasn't been up the standard of her old videos. However, her latest one is pretty much awesome. Britney took the idea of craziness and made it hers and lovable. Not like Gaga who has pretty much destroyed everything in her path. Here is her latest video:

Isn't it amazing? I love it. What do you guys think?

Bruner! Bruner! Bruner!

I would have to say that Joseph Bruner is probably the only author that we have read in class that I actually believe and follow his theories. Why you might ask? Just think about it. Let's start another dialogue. And do you believe Bruner?

Worst Thing Ever!

This week I heard the most ridiculous song I have heard in a while -- Rebecca Black's "Friday." I couldn't believe it was actually created and then made into a video. I usually don't judge the artist who makes a terrible song, but I cannot believe that someone actually made a song about the days of the week. In addition, when I first saw the video, it topped it off. I deduced this video to be the worst music video ever. Is this a parody? It cannot be an ACTUALLY music video.
What do you guys think? I want to hear what you have to say. Send in your comments.

Ri-di-cu-lous!

This week I decided that I would do another video - Ke$ha's Take it off. However, I wanted to do something different. I want to hear what you guys think about the video. I don't want to begin bashing it because even though I love this song, the video is just ridiculous. Watch and see. Post your comments and let's discuss it. Come guys, you can do it.

Reality or Fiction

This week I wanted to focus on one of my favorite characters in Harry Potter: Bellatrix Lestrange. But in real life, her name is Helena Bonham Carter. Helena is known, not only for her acting ability, but also for her ridiculous clothing choice. Usually when she is attending a major paparazzi-event, she always wears something extra absurd, something for everyone to talk about. I'm not sure if she is trying to make a statement, but she surely is saying something.
Traditionally, when someone attends the Golden Globes, they dress to impress, but Helena dresses to be seen. She wears the most absurd things so people will always remember what she had on. Trust me, they do! I remember watching the Golden Globes thinking she is actually insane for wearing such a hideous outfit. Look at the picture above, the colorful dress with the dark shades and the mix shoes is just too much. She stands out like a needle in a haystack. It is just unbearable to see someone with such passionate and emotion look so ridiculous.

When will the madness stop?

Man, oh man! The craziness and absurdity have started to spread to the younger generation. When will this maddness stop? Where shall I begin? Maybe in the outfits? Or the hair? Or we can began with the mayhem in Willow Smith's video "Whip my hair."

Willow Smith has made a name for herself, using the connection that she gained from being a 'Smith.' She has come a long way from being just a precious little girl to fully developed CHILD. When she joined the music industry, she had a simple, yet casual dressing style. However, in the past year, her dressing style has skyrocketed to absolutely bizarre. She started to wear clothing, not just for the simplicity of looking good, but to make a statement. Well, she's making a statement, just one that she would not be pleased with- "Where the hell is my sanity?"

As portrayed in this frame from her music video, you can see that she is trying her hardest. But, come on...who in their right mindset would ever wear a yellow top with zebra-printed pink pants and pink fuzzy poof hair?

I understand the need to stand out when it comes to being a celebrity, but I do not think you have to dress ridiculously to be known. All you have to do is look your best; something Willow failed to do.

Originality: What it isn't

Hey guys,
This week I’m going to do something different. Instead of focusing on one picture, this blog will concentrate on MGMT’s bizarre music video “Electrical Feel.” We all know how MGMT thrives on being different, but their music videos are just ridiculous.

The video starts off with one of the leader singers walking in a mystic forest. Emphasis on the MYSTIC part here. And what type of people hang out in this mystic forest - dancing tribal hippies of course. And what are they dancing to? The sounds of music played by giant puppet animals. Where are you taking us, MGMT?  And what do people drink in this mythical place? Electricity flowing from the moon that they just so happened to pull out of the sky.

Now maybe one or two of these things might have made an okay video but altogether it's too much. It's trying too hard to be original. Originality isn't about confusing people to the point where they wonder just who decided to direct this mess. It's about giving us just enough to pause and say "hey, that was fun and new". The Electric Field video doesn't make me say that. It makes me say, "put away your CGI effects and your drugs and give me something a little less drastic."

Red Carpet Fashion

It's that time of the year guys. Grammys! Time for everyone to let their crazy hang out. I understand everyone wants to make an impression on the red carpet but how far is too far? And what's just far enough? So after a night of posing on the red carpet - who goes home with the real prize - best fashion.

Better yet, let's start off with who didn't.

Nicki Minaj. We've seen her try many a look but dear Nicki has outdone herself this time. The Cruella de Vil look meets leopard print is not attractive. Let's start with the hair. The Frankenstein-esque hair is a problem on it's own.  Combined with the body hugging, leopard print jumpsuit is it? Too much. Bring in the matching, maybe even connecting, heels and the whole thing came together all wrong. Not that there was a way for it to come together right. Fashion Grade: D. We're being kind. Points for trying.

Having a better night - Rihanna has put an ensemble together that's different and flattering. The revealing look could easily go wrong but somehow she pulls it off. The red hair works with the delicate white dress. It's just enough frill meets skin. Fashion Grade: A-. Points lost for not combing your hair first Ri.

Barbie? I think not!

Who knew the day would come when "Barbie" could look so trashy?  Nicki Minaj spent most of her career  glorifying herself as a Barbie figure. Spandex, lace, and a two-toned wig. How's that for stretching "different". She has tried her best to be so different in even her everyday outfits that she might have just fallen off the fashion rack.

I know when it comes to being different people do their best to find the least coordinated ensemble but this is just outrageous. When do we draw the line between "quirky different" that we like and just simply silly? I haven't found the balance yet but I know Nicki missed the mark by a long shot.

And let's talk about her trying to redefine "Barbie". What a task you've taken on Nicki! A timeless figure - class, beauty, perfection. And she's turned it into something that screams cheap. Desperate. Too concerned with making a statement, Nicki's lost all sense of fashion. I mean when did Barbie ever wear lacy booty shorts over bright pink spandex?

Come on Nicki, you can do better than this! Simply Outrageous.

"I'm Just Dripping With Differentness"

Gaga stole my dress.  Like there is anything remotely daring about wearing a dress made out of meat. My whole closet is made out of roast beef.

But seriously, who would ever consider wearing clothing made out of meat? Gaga's career has been mirrored by her fashion choices--as she became more popular, her clothing choices became more outrageous.  She has tried her best to be so different that her ridiculous clothing is no longer a statement.  Instead, her current fashion choices do not show a person who is a true individual, but a person who tries too hard to be different.

Gaga's decision to wear a dress, shoes, purse, and hat, all made out of raw meat, is shocking, but not for the reasons she hoped for.  I'm all for taking risks with fashion, but it is down right disrespectful to vegetarians and animal lovers around the world.  Why not make an outfit out of vegetables?  A dress made out of celery, shoes carved out of carrots, and a jacket made out of bell peppers?  And while you're at it, why not compliment your ensemble with a purse fashioned out of an eggplant?

Fashion or Not!

Fashion? What do we really know about fashion? Countless people think they have an idea but let's be serious, a lot of them don't! Numerous people would say that fashion is about individualism but I would have to disagree. Yes, fashion can help show off how different you are but in this day and age, there is no more individualistic style. The more you start to be different, the more similar you become to the others that are trying to be different. You can dress yourself up and still not be fashionable. This blog will examine how people have gone to drastic measure to be different that it has become ridiculous. Maybe give suggestions.
